A Message From Our Principal
It is a wonderful honour to welcome you to our school website. I hope you enjoy perusing this website and gaining an insight into the various aspects of school life for all at Knockanes National School.
Knockanes National School is a vibrant co-educational Primary School nestled in the heart of Glenflesk parish and only 10 kilometres from Killarney town. We currently have 3 mainstream class teachers, 2 Special Education Teachers and 3 Special Needs Assistants. We also have Special Class for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Our staff are highly dedicated and committed to providing an enjoyable, holistic and broad education to all. Knockanes NS is a warm, nurturing and welcoming school where teaching and learning occurs in a fun, engaging and inclusive manner. Our staff seek to embrace the individual personality of each child and develop it with varied, multi-faceted and child-centred teaching methodologies.
Our pupils endeavour to always interact with other with a respectful confidence and friendliness and approach school life with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. Our school holds a vibrant atmosphere where visitors to our school will receive a warm and friendly welcome from staff, pupils and parents.
Our school community is highly engaged and active in terms of supporting the school's fundraising and events and contributing to the progress of many aspects of school life. This has been greatly enriched by our strong links with the local community and we sincerely thank those involved for their commitment to the school throughout the years.

Morning supervision:
8:50 a.m.
Class begins daily at:
9:00 a.m.
Morning break:
10:50 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Lunch:
12:45 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.
Hometime:
1:40 p.m. (Infants)
2:40 p.m. (1st – 6th Class)
We operate a ‘Sign-in / Sign-out’ system if a pupil needs to leave school/return to school during school hours. Parents are asked to please sign this book in the office when necessary.
